June 26, 2018 is primary day in Colorado. It is the day on which the voters of El Paso County, CO decide which Republican candidate they will nominate for Sheriff in the November general election.

My posse and I have worked hard. We’ve invested blood (yes, one of my troops suffered an serious injury placing signs), sweat, tears, and personal treasure to make this happen. We have touched over one hundred thousand voters in the county with our message of new leadership, change, professionalism, and a new future for the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office. Our collective fate is in God’s hands.

We’ve been inspired at every turn, encouraged at every stop. The people have spoken to us in heartfelt terms, made their concerns and issues known, and thanked us for a listening ear. I have personally learned so much and I am deeply humbled by the confidence I have felt placed in me by good men and women who only want the best in public safety.

Seeing how tomorrow is the 26th, one of my posse sent me Psalm 26, which is amazingly fitting for this journey we’ve been on:

Psalm 26:9-12
Do not gather my soul with sinners,
Nor my life with bloodthirsty men,
In whose hands is a sinister scheme,
And whose right hand is full of bribes.
But as for me, I will walk in my integrity;
Redeem me and be merciful to me.
My foot stands in an even place;
In the congregations I will bless the Lord.
May God bless the men and women of the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office and may God bless the citizens of El Paso County.
